5-week intermediate contact staff series with Aileen Lawlor

Join the incredible Aileen Lawlor for an exploratory new intermediate series on Contact Staff!
Class always begins with a stretch & a warmup of our contact staff fundamentals across the floor.
Each week we give focus to investigating contact with a different body part, & we’ll play games that challenge & strengthen our staff technique. Everyone will be an active participant in this class, offering observations & demonstrations during interactive games. Groundwork, partner passing & some acrobatic movement will be introduced gently based on interest & level.
The goal of these investigations is for each student to connect to the staff on their own terms & discover their personal flavor of movement through limitations & guidance given by the instructor, and as always, to show up to the practice.

Each class is from 7pm - 8:30pm

$150 for the full 5-week series

June 11th - Class 1: Neck & Back (Isolations, tipping, etc)
June 18th - Class 2: Hands & Arms (Slides, partner passing, games involving fishtails, etc)
June 25th - Class 3: Legs & Hips (Speed, rolls, pinches, groundwork, etc)
July 2nd - Class 4: Chest & Head (Balance, ‘gaze’ of these body parts, etc)
July 9th - Class 5: Full Body Integration (Guided flow to connect the pathways)

Who is Aileen Lawlor?
In the world of Flow Arts, Aileen Lawlor is an artist whose name has remained synonymous with Contact Staff for 20 years. After training as an actor in NYC, she developed a fervent curiosity to learn from the world and a love for expression of self through movement, which is how she came into the world of Flow Arts.
She was first recognized for contributing her unique, original style to contact staff dance and performance through her solo routines and videos. This made her a highly sought-after performer & teacher for events in New Zealand, Indonesia, Ukraine, Philippines, England, Malaysia, the US, and Europe. For the last 10 years, her main focus has been sharing the joy of contact staff technique and dance with people of all ages through group classes & private lessons.
She has taught Contact Staff in 20 different countries, and continues to perform and teach throughout the world.
