Details:
Brazilian pianist Henrique Eisenmann is one of the most inventive voices at the intersection of classical music, jazz, and global folk traditions—a faculty member at the Juilliard School, a current member of the six-time Grammy-winning Paul Winter Consort, and an artist who has collaborated with Steve Reich, The Brubeck Brothers, Luciana Souza, and dozens of others across stages in Japan, China, Israel, Europe, Brazil, and beyond. His latest recording, Nação, has drawn unanimous praise from critics around the world.
At the heart of Eisenmann's artistic philosophy is a quote from writer Nina Berberova: "I don't have roots, I have feet." It's a principle that animates everything he does—not the restlessness of a nomad, but the curiosity of someone who seeks out hidden pearls, forgotten voices, and overlooked genres and brings them back to life with both reverence and artistic daring. Dialogue and listening, he believes, are the foundation of all music-making; improvisation is simply their most direct expression.
For this concert, Eisenmann joins Cultural Caravan Artistic Director Josh Halpern for the world premiere of a new work composed especially for the two of them—drawing on their combined classical and jazz backgrounds and weaving together elements from musical cultures across the globe, Western harmonic language, and space for spontaneous individual expression. The piece is currently being written, and details will be shared as they become available. What we can promise is that it will be unlike anything you've heard before.
Tickets to this event are pay-as-you-can, starting at $5. Children & Student tickets are FREE.
