Details:
Join us for the opening weekend of "Graciela Iturbide: Between Two Worlds", July 11-12.
The retrospective "Graciela Iturbide: Between Two Worlds" spans more than five decades of work by the celebrated photographer, exploring her poetic commitment to finding the extraordinary in the everyday. Iturbide’s lyrical photographs reflect a vast spectrum of life in her home country of Mexico, including markets and festivals, cultural traditions, symbols and experiences of birth and death, botanical gardens, self-portraits, and more.
Photographing primarily in black and white, she seeks moments of revelation, where imagination, spirituality, and the uncanny converge. While her work remains deeply connected to Mexico, Iturbide has also photographed in places including India, Madagascar, Italy, the United States, and elsewhere, approaching each with the same passionate curiosity and respect. "Between Two Worlds" highlights the ways in which her photographs function as meditations: acts of attention that honor and contemplate the people, landscapes, and rituals that she encounters.
