Hunting Island State Park is South Carolina's most visited state park, attracting over a million visitors annually. This 5,000-acre barrier island offers a natural escape with five miles of pristine beaches, thousands of acres of marsh and maritime forest, a saltwater lagoon, and an ocean inlet. Key attractions include the historic Hunting Island Lighthouse, the only publicly accessible lighthouse in South Carolina, and the Nature Center featuring live animals and educational exhibits. The park provides camping facilities, hiking and biking trails, fishing opportunities, and is recognized for its abundant land and marine wildlife. It was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and remains one of the few undeveloped Sea Islands in the Lowcountry.
