UCPAC’s Sensory Friendly Theatre movie screening of Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” is a digital presentation specially adapted for children and adults with autism and other sensory sensitivities. Supported in part by funding from the Union County Board of County Commissioners and the NJEDA’s A.R.T. Phase II Grant Program.
When Lilo, a lonely orphaned Hawaiian girl, adopts Stitch, aka Experiment 626, an adorable but mischievous alien posing as a dog, they discover the true meaning of ʻohana.
“ʻOhana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”
Fun for the whole family, Richard Corliss of Time magazine describes Disney’s “Lilo & Stich” as “…a bright, engaging bauble with half a dozen Elvis Presley songs for Mom and Dad, and just enough sass.”
What to expect at a Sensory Friendly Theatre Movie Experience:
Movie will run its full length without intermission.
Seating is general admission; a limited number of tickets will be sold to maintain a comfortably-sized audience.
Lights will remain on at 25% brightness inside the theater auditorium during the entire performance.
Sound volume will be lowered and remain constant to prevent abrupt, jarring sounds.
