Your bees made it through the summer, now you need to get the bees ready for winter.
During this final class in the Beekeeping series, you will learn how to prepare for winter and next spring's success. Topics include, fall management of your hive, treating bees to protect from varroa mites and diseases, extracting honey, feeding the bees, wrapping the hive and suggestions for harvesting equipment.
You will also have the opportunity to perform hands-on extraction of frames of honeycomb, please bring along a pint jar and you can take some honey home with you. Randy Rykal and the Chippewa Valley Beekeepers club will provide the training. There will be a catered lunch available from Chicken Chasers of Fall Creek. Bring cash for a sandwich and drinks.
Cost: BCR Members $20.00 and Non-members $25.00
Ages: 13+ (Children must be accompanied by adults)
