Details:
Join science communicator and PhD candidate Space Case Sarah for a journey from the depths of Earth’s oceans to the icy worlds of our solar system. Drawing from her experience aboard the research vessel JOIDES Resolution during Expedition 399 to the Lost City Hydrothermal Field, Sarah explores how deep sea research is helping scientists better understand where life may exist beyond Earth and shares along the way her unexpected journey into planetarium work.
Space Case Sarah is a professional science communicator with a focus on astrobiology and a passion for following science wherever it leads. She holds a Master of Science in Communications from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater and is currently a PhD candidate in Communications at the University of North Dakota. She also serves as a research science affiliate in the science communication and education track with the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science.
Her doctoral research explores how immersive media can transform the public understanding of science, with a particular focus on planetarium domes as powerful storytelling environments. As a recipient of two NASA SCoPE grants, Sarah works in collaboration with NASA funded OpenSpace, Adler Planetarium, and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory to create immersive experiences that take audiences from Earth to the outer reaches of the solar system.
