Carnegie-Stout Public Library will show the movie "Yankee Doodle Dandy" on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Aigler Auditorium on the Library's 3rd Floor. Admission to this special matinee is free, and the first 100 attendees will enjoy free boxes of Dubuque's tastiest popcorn.
Starring Best Actor Oscar winner James Cagney, "Yankee Doodle Dandy" (1942) is a biographical musical about the early days, triumphs, songs, and romances of George M. Cohan, the composer who was known as "The Man Who Owned Broadway."
Nominated for eight Academy Awards including Best Picture, the movie was selected in 1993 for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
