BIPOC Poetry Open Mic
A poetry open mic intentionally centering BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ voices.
Join us for an evening of poetry, storytelling, creativity, and community as we gather to celebrate the voices, experiences, and artistic expression of Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQIA+ creatives.
While everyone is welcome to attend and participate, this space was created with the specific intention of uplifting voices that are too often underrepresented, overlooked, or spoken over. We believe there is power in creating spaces where people can share their stories, speak their truths, and be witnessed by a supportive community.
Whether you're a seasoned performer, sharing your work for the first time, or simply coming to listen, we invite you to join us.
Bring your poems.
Bring your stories.
Bring your joy.
Bring your grief.
Bring your whole self.
This is a welcoming, affirming space where artists, writers, spoken word performers, storytellers, and creatives of all kinds can connect through authentic expression.
Free sign-up to perform
All experience levels welcome
BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ centered
Allies encouraged to attend, listen, and support
Poetry, spoken word, storytelling, and creative expression encouraged
About The Karma House
The Karma House is a community-centered kava bar and gathering space dedicated to connection, creativity, healing, and belonging. We host events that foster authentic community while creating opportunities for people to share their gifts, learn from one another, and build meaningful relationships.
What is Kava?
Kava is a traditional beverage made from the root of the Piper methysticum plant and has been used ceremonially throughout the islands of the South Pacific for generations. Traditionally consumed in community gatherings, kava is known for supporting relaxation, connection, and conversation.
At The Karma House, we honor the cultural roots of kava while creating space for community, creativity, and meaningful human connection.
Come listen.
Come share.
Come be witnessed.
We can't wait to hear your voice.
