Details:
Discover the whales, dolphins, seals and sea turtles that visit Delaware as presented by the MERR Institute, Delaware’s official marine animal stranding response organization.
Participants will learn about the ecology of marine mammals and sea turtles and their role in Delaware’s coastal ecosystem. These enormous and fascinating creatures include whales, dolphins, seals, manatees and sea turtles. Learn about the largest animal on earth, the similarities and differences between land and marine mammals, and other fun facts, including the different species that beach goers might encounter on the beach or in the near shore waters.
MERR’s interactive exhibit includes whale bones, sea turtle shells, and other educational artifacts from stranded marine mammals and sea turtles. Children will learn how MERR rescues these animals when they become stranded, and what they can do to help to become good environmental stewards of the ocean.
