For many years, the members of Bowie CLAW have advocated for the establishment of a local animal holding facility to assist with placement of Bowie's homeless animals and the return of lost animals. We are thrilled to announce that our efforts have been successful and the City of Bowie recently opened such a facility in City Hall. CLAW donated $104,000 to defray the costs of the shelter's construction and hopes to remain deeply involved in the operation of the facility. Bowie CLAW also aims to work with City and County officials to develop and support educational programs that inspire awareness, understanding and compassion for all living things. Towards this goal, our work is intended to: •promote responsible pet ownership; •encourage spay and neutering of all companion animals/pets; and •support the protection of animals and assist in the enforcement of cruelty to animal laws. For several years Bowie CLAW has assisted with the City of Bowie TNR Program. Cats and kittens that can be socialized have a chance of finding forever homes.
