Join us for **Summer Family Fridays** at the State Historical Museum of Iowa, a vibrant program that runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on select Fridays throughout the summer. Each week features a unique theme, offering hands-on crafts, themed scavenger hunts, and guided exhibit tours that allow participants to explore Iowa history in engaging ways. This summer's themes include "All About the Museum," "Planes, Wagons and Automobiles," "Juneteenth and the Civil War," "Revolutionary Iowans," "America 250," "Early Iowa Statehood," and "Art and Portraits."
On these Family Fridays, families can drop in at any time to enjoy art-inspired activities, create themed crafts, and participate in a guided tour that dives deeper into the artists and stories behind the exhibits. While drop-in activities are tailored for younger learners, guided tours are designed for older participants. Collect stamps in your Summer Museum Activity Pass with each visit for a chance to win a special museum collections tour for up to 8 guests! Note that registration is required for collection tours while other activities are self-guided and open to everyone. For the full calendar of events and registration details, visit [the museum's website](history.iowa.gov/visit/events).
