Join us for a comprehensive Chicken Processing Workshop on Tuesday, September 16th, from 9 AM to 2 PM, where participants will learn to process chickens from start to finish. In this hands-on session, we will process 35-40 birds, teaching attendees how to humanely kill, scald, pluck, and eviscerate chickens, with each person getting ample hands-on experience under instructor guidance. Led by experienced poultry farmers including Jonathan Kilpatrick, Herman Bartsch, and Mary Fischer, this workshop promises valuable insights into proper equipment usage, safe handling procedures, cutting whole chickens into parts, and effective storage methods to maximize meat quality. Limited space is available to ensure a personalized learning experience. Registration is required, with two options: $40 for hands-on training or $20 for viewer-only attendance. A complimentary box lunch will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their own aprons. To register, visit sfa-mn.org/minnesota-river/. Refunds can be requested up to 48 hours in advance of the event, and please inform the host if you prefer not to be photographed during the workshop.
