Lawn Chair Night in Downtown Decorah: Nordic Dancers

Join for Lawn Chair Night Thursday, July 16 at 6:30PM on MAIN STREET, right outside of the Winneshiek County Courthouse -- featuring the Nordic Dancers! Special thanks to Decorah Bank & Trust Co for sponsoring the night.
The charm is in the simplicity: bring a lawn chair (or a blanket), find a patch of grass or a stretch of sidewalk, and settle in for an evening of great music and community spirit. And the best part — its free! Held on Thursday evenings throughout the summer (June-August), Lawn Chair Night transforms Downtown Decorah into a welcoming concert venue. Whether you’re a fan of bluegrass, jazz, folk, or hometown marching bands, the series features a wide range of musical acts that reflect the heart and soul of the region.
THIS WEEK: We are gearing up for Nordic Fest, July 23-25, with a special early performance by the Nordic Dancers. Decorah's Nordic Dancers are a youth folk dance troupe that has performed since the festival’s first year in 1967. Originating from a third-grade dance class, these dancers commit to a decade of training and performance, advancing from the Junior to Senior group. Accompanied by the Nordic Dancers Orchestra, they preserve and celebrate traditional Norwegian folk dances locally, nationally, and internationally, serving as proud cultural ambassadors for their community
Lawn Chair Night has been a program of Downtown Decorah Betterment for more than 25 years and is one of the community’s most beloved traditions as a weekly summer series of free outdoor concerts that brings locals and visitors together under the open sky. It's now made possible by DDBA in partnership with Visit Decorah Tourism, Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce, and Impact Coffee. The 2026 season is generously supported by top sponsors AJ Realty, Oneota Community Food Co-op, and ITC... along with 10+ supporting sponsors for specific nights throughout the season. This free, public event features both local and regional talent.
In the event of rain, the event will be moved inside Impact Coffee. Rain announcements will be made on Facebook's Visit Decorah page and the Downtown Decorah Betterment page.
