Details:
In honor of LGBTQ Pride Month, The Library and the Midwest Writing Center are hosting our 3rd annual Pride Storytelling Night! Join us to hear 4 different community members, all local to the Quad Cities, share personal stories about their lives and identities as members of the Queer community.
This program is recommended for older teens and adults. Registration is not required.
Presenters:
Adrian Cole is a weaver of many threads, a wanderer, a guide to those interested in being lost. Most recent publications include; By The Edge, a chapbook released through Stone Corpse Presses’ Riverend Artist Series, Shattered Constraints: An Anthology of Radical Hospitality, and The Body Open Source: An Anthology on Being Human in the Age of AI.
Wezz De La Rosa is a community advocate, board member, and owner of Wezz De La Rosa Photography in the Quad Cities. Known for inclusive storytelling and community-centered work, Wezz serves on the QCAD board and is a founding board member of the upcoming LGBT app, The Entire Picture. Wesly identifies as transgender and pansexual. Through art, leadership, and lived experience, Wezz speaks openly about resilience, growth, and the journey of coming into authentic identity.
Viminda Shafer has spent their entire career in youth development, education and community building, pushing systems to bend and to care for people. In her free time, she presides over two non-profit boards dedicated to uplifting people through team sport and access to information as well as volunteering in their daughter’s school district and leading her 4H club. Viminda is an unapologetically queer Filipina living in a small country village, sprinkling kindness (and sparkle) wherever they go.
We strive to make our programs inclusive to all. For accommodation requests, please reach out to youthservicesandprogrammingstaff@davenportlibrary.com.
