Diversity Saturday's Will Return on July 04, to celebrate our country's 250th anniversary.
Since the beginning of 2026, our mission has been simple: restore and revive Diversity Saturdays — the monthly or bimonthly program that gives our LGBTQ community something far too rare in Columbus, Georgia: a safe venue to exist freely.
For many in our community — especially youth still living at home, people in unsupportive environments, or those surrounded by judgment — being themselves is still frightening. Every day, someone wakes up wondering how they’ll get through the next 24 hours without slipping up, without being “found out,” without losing everything. The emotional labor of hiding — the lies, the stories, the constant self‑editing — it doesn’t bring joy. It brings grief, depression, fear, and for some, the unthinkable.
That’s why Diversity Saturday's matter.
We give people a place where they can breathe.
A place where they can laugh, cry, dance, vent, learn, and be fully themselves without fear.
A place where faces light up because, for the first time in a long time, they feel free.
And honestly? Watching that moment — that spark of truth — means more to me than any Pride celebration we’ve ever produced. Because that’s the moment someone realizes:
“Oh my God… this feels so good to be me.”
Diversity Saturdays have always been about more than entertainment.
They’re about advocacy, education, community, and hope.
They’re about reminding people that LGBTQ rights are not guaranteed, not permanent, and not safe from attack. This year alone, Georgia faced 15 anti‑LGBTQ bills — and we beat every single one. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because people care enough to call, email, show up, speak out, and create the memes, posters, and messages that keep our community informed and empowered.
People need to see that they are not alone.
That the world is not out to erase them.
That their identity is valuable, cherished, and worthy of celebration.
So yes — we’ve had three strikeouts this year trying to relaunch Diversity Saturdays. But we’re done waiting. We’re done depending on venues that don’t follow through. We’re taking control.
We already host one of the best Halloween festivals in Columbus right here at 4214 16th Ave, and there’s no reason we can’t host Diversity Saturdays too. We’ve got the deck, the bar area, the bathrooms, the vendor space, and a neighborhood that loves to gather. We’ll flyer the area, promote the event, and bring people in for food, fun, and community.
