Fragile Peace [Council House Program]

Join us at Prairie Ridge Meadow as we explore the dramatic events that led to the 1795 Treaty of Greene Ville. Standing just 900 feet from where Greene Ville once rose, we’ll uncover the conflict of the Northwest Indian War, the rise of General “Mad” Anthony Wayne with Wayne renactor David Rousculp, and the powerful gathering of Native Nations who came to negotiate peace. Inside our replica council house, you’ll experience the type of space where diplomacy, culture, and difficult decisions met. Through storytelling, reflection, and a closer look at Native traditions, we’ll examine how the promise of unity stood alongside unequal power — and why the peace forged here was fragile from the start. This program offers thoughtful discussion, rich local history, and a deeper understanding of Greenville’s place in the story of early America.
