FREE! Summer Family Fridays at the State Historical Museum of Iowa

Join us for FREE Summer Family Fridays at the State Historical Museum of Iowa, featuring hands-on crafts, themed scavenger hunts, and guided tours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on select Fridays throughout the summer. Each week's activities are inspired by a different theme centered around Iowa's rich history.

This summer, you can collect stamps in your Summer Museum Activity Pass with each visit for a chance to win a private museum collections tour for up to eight guests! Registration is required for guided tours and can be completed at history.iowa.gov/visit/events, while all other activities are drop-in and self-guided.

Here’s a glimpse of our exciting themes:
- **June 5:** All About the Museum - Explore with a special scavenger hunt and craft.
- **June 12:** Planes, Wagons, and Automobiles - Discover transportation history through activities and tours.
- **June 19:** Juneteenth and the Civil War - Celebrate with a Civil War-inspired activity and a guided tour about Black Iowans' contributions.
- **June 26:** Revolutionary Iowans - Celebrate those who pursued liberty and happiness.
- **July 10:** America 250 - Join in themed activities to celebrate the nation's 250th birthday.
- **July 17:** Early Iowa Statehood - Experience Iowa's pioneer era through hands-on fun.
- **July 24:** Art and Portraits - Learn about the significance of art in the museum through tours and activities.
