Loon in Water-Mixable Oil Paint and Sip

This year, during the Loon Festival, we are going to paint a loon in water-mixable oil paint. It doesn’t sound possible, but Winsor and Newton has a line of oil paint that is able to be thinned with water, yet offers much of the same qualities as oil paint. This paint is easy to use thinned down to get the soft, blended look so characteristic of oil paint. For more details, read project description below. Ages 18+ for this class please!

Project Description: 12×16 stretched canvas Water Mixable Oil Paint We will begin our painting with the loon, water and upper sky with a black under-painting with acrylic. The rest of the painting is done with thinned water-mixable oil paint over the top. With W.M. Oil, It is surprisingly easy to add the colors and white dots when the loon is already black!
Because we are using a thinned-down technique, it doesn’t take as long to dry as usual. But still plan to leave with a sticky painting. Keep it hanging on a wall out of reach until it is at least dry to the touch.
