Douthat State Park, established in 1936, is one of Virginia's original state parks, nestled in the Allegheny Mountains. It offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking and mountain biking on over 40 miles of trails, fishing in a 50-acre lake stocked with trout, swimming at a sandy beach, and boating. The park features historic cabins, campgrounds, and lodges, many originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s. Visitors can also enjoy nature and history programs, and the park is recognized for its scenic beauty and influence on park development nationwide.
