Details:
Experience a celebration of art and cultural heritage at two remarkable events this June and July. From June 16 to July 10, 2026, visit the "Juneteenth in the Gallery" exhibition, which honors the spirit, resilience, and rich legacy of Juneteenth through works by artists such as Pearlista Henry, Dyke Wood, and Donald Earley, alongside beloved Sounder illustrations by James Barkley, generously loaned by Susan Virginia Mead. This exhibit commemorates freedom, heritage, and the enduring power of art.
Simultaneously, join us for the Annual Middle School and High School Art Show, featuring creative works from students of Covington Middle School and Alleghany High School, alongside the inspiring "From Our Neighborhood Quilt Exhibit: VA250" at the Historic Masonic Theatre. This exhibit runs from May 1 to July 10 and includes 38 handcrafted quilts celebrating artistry, tradition, and community spirit, including 19 Quilts of Valor. The art show reception will take place on a date yet to be announced from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, and admission is free.
With these complementary experiences, we invite everyone to explore the profound stories woven into each artistic piece, highlighting the power of creativity and community connection.
