Details:
Join us for a vibrant celebration of creativity and culture through three upcoming events that showcase artistic expression and community spirit.
From June 16 to July 10, 2026, the "Juneteenth in the Gallery" exhibit will honor African American history and resilience, featuring works by Pearlista Henry, Dyke Wood, and Donald Earley, along with Sounder illustrations by James Barkley. This exhibition invites visitors to commemorate freedom and the enduring power of art.
Following this, the Annual Middle School and High School Art Show will take place at the Historic Masonic Theatre, celebrating the talents of Covington Middle School and Alleghany High School students. This exhibit, held during a reception from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, coincides with the “From Our Neighborhood Quilt Exhibit: VA250,” running from May 1 through July 10. This exhibit features 38 handcrafted quilts, including Quilts of Valor to honor veterans, and encourages visitors to explore themes of gratitude and community connection.
Additionally, the "Fx2: Regional Photo Exhibit" will run from November 13 to December 26, 2025, showcasing the works of local photographers. Visitors can participate in voting for the People’s Choice Award during the free exhibit hours. An artist reception on November 20, 2025, from 6 PM to 8 PM will provide an evening of creativity and conversation.
Together, these events highlight the transformative power of art and its ability to weave together the stories and heritage of our communities.
