Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury: Albannach

Details:

The Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series, hosted by Catamount Arts, is thrilled to welcome Scottish rock favorites Albannach back to Dog Mountain, Sunday, July 29th, at 5pm. Nearly a year to the day since their last Dog Mountain appearance, Albannach is guaranteed to draw a massive crowd, typically attracting the largest audience of St. Jay’s summer concert season. Patrons are encouraged to arrive early and/or take advantage of RCT shuttle service from the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center or Fairbanks Scales.

Renowned for their raucous rhythms, stirring pipes, and madcap didgeridoo, Albannach brings a wild festive rumble year after year that’s somehow perfectly suited for Dog Mountain’s majestic vistas. The concert, as with all Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury shows, is free, accessible, and all-ages appropriate.

Albannach is Scots-Gaelic for “Scottish” or “Scotsman.” Albannach is comprised of three Scottish-born musicians, one American-born Scot, and an Irishman. Not just another pipe-and-drums band, Albannach’s primal drumming, champion piping, and resounding didgeridoo stir the souls of all who hear them.

Since 2017, the Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series has brought free family-friendly concerts to St. Johnsbury’s Dog Mountain every summer. Shows at Dog Mountain start at 5pm and run every Sunday through August.

Albannach’s concert at Dog Mountain is free and open to everyone—including dogs. Patrons are encouraged to bring a blanket or a low beach chair, sunscreen, and water, but leave the alcohol at home. Beer, wine, and cocktails will be available for purchase at the St. Johnsbury Distillery beer garden on site; bringing alcohol from off-site is strictly prohibited. Patrons are welcome to pack a picnic dinner or bring cash to grab something from one of the food trucks; there will be at least two food options available for purchase at every Sunday concert.

Overflow parking is available at the Fairbanks Scales parking lot, where RCT will shuttle passengers up to Dog Mountain and back. New this year, RCT will begin shuttling folks from the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center to Dog Mountain every Sunday at 4pm, and then back to the Welcome Center after the concert. Thanks to generous support from RCT, shuttle service to the concert venue is free of charge.

In addition to monthly Sunday concerts at Dog Mountain, Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury will host free concerts at Final Fridays block parties, on the last Friday of June, July, and August, in partnership with Downtown St. Johnsbury. For a full summer of free family-friendly live music, plan to be at Dog Mountain, every Sunday, at 5pm, and don’t miss Final Fridays on Railroad Street!
