The Urban Farm (TUF) is a non-profit, education-based organization dedicated to providing urban youth with opportunities to engage in local food and agricultural systems. TUF aims to remove barriers such as land access, time, location, and finances, offering experiential programs in animal husbandry, organic gardening, environmental education, land conservation, and food security. These programs equip youth with practical life skills and foster compassion, resilience, and a commitment to building sustainable, healthy, and equitable communities. TUF also emphasizes Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, striving for a future where social identities do not predict life outcomes. The organization values respect for individuals, animals, and the environment, alongside personal responsibility and accountability. TUF provides a unique opportunity for urban communities to engage in agriculture within the city, offering field trips, summer camps, internships, and various other farm-related activities. They host over 125 animals and feature facilities like a community garden, greenhouse, and market garden, transforming previously underutilized urban spaces into vibrant ecosystems.
