Vitória Cribb

Details:

In echoes of a wet finger, Cribb invites us into a strange, shimmering world where the boundaries between body, dream, and code begin to blur. The film follows Tixa, a woman who wakes from a deep sleep into a reality watched by unseen eyes. When a lizard slips into her shower, the ordinary moment turns surreal—her body begins to shift, and with it, her sense of self. Cribb’s work blends science fiction, poetry, and digital animation to explore what it means to live under constant surveillance. Through Tixa’s metamorphosis, echoes of a wet finger reflects on the fragile, sometimes mysterious experience of existing online and on how transformation might offer a form of resistance. (12:24 mins., HD video) Cribb is part of a new generation of artists redefining the relationship between art, technology, and identity. She was selected by an international jury during the 2023 Videobrasil Festival in São Paulo for a residency in the Wex’s Moving Image Studio in 2026. She will be developing a new work in collaboration with the Film/Video Studio and the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design. Vitória Cribb will present a public talk on March 12 as part of Ohio State’s Arts, Technology and Social Change series. Image Caption: Vitória Cribb, echoes of a wet finger, 2024. HD video.
