Steal This Story, Please!

Staunchly independent journalist Amy Goodman has spent three decades amplifying stories and voices too often ignored by commercial media from the Democracy Now! newsroom. From Academy Award-nominated filmmakers Tia Lessin and Carl Deal comes both a riveting portrait of Goodman’s trailblazing journalism and a survey of the changing media landscape where assaults on the press and truth have become relentless. Steal This Story Story, Please! sounds the alarm on what is at risk if public media is unsupported.
For the 7 p.m. Saturday, July 11 screening, Ragtag Cinema, KOPN, and Vidwest are teaming up to raise money for a cause all three organizations share: keeping independent, community-powered media alive and well in Columbia.
For this screening only, we are holding a special reception with complimentary refreshments and popcorn starting at 6:15 p.m., and the film will be followed by a virtual Q&A with director Carl Deal. Tickets for this exclusive event are only available through a $25 donation to KOPN or Vidwest or by invitation from Ragtag.
