The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, commonly known as The King Center, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1968 by Coretta Scott King. It serves as a global destination and resource center dedicated to educating the world on the life, legacy, and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The King Center's mission is to empower people to create a just, humane, equitable, and peaceful world by applying Dr. King's nonviolent philosophy and methodology, known as Nonviolence365. The organization engages in research, education, training, advocacy, and activism. It offers various educational programs, workshops, seminars, and conferences for all ages, aiming to inspire new generations and empower change-makers. The King Center also preserves Dr. King's archives and makes them accessible to researchers, educators, and the public. It is a living memorial, committed to the causes for which Dr. King lived and died, and is actively repositioning to meet contemporary challenges and opportunities for positive social impact. The King Center also awards the Martin Luther King Jr. Nonviolent Peace Prize and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Social Justice Award.
