Details:
The Pottery Program offers a range of classes designed to enhance skill levels in sculpting and wheel throwing.
**POT 08 - Intermediate Sculpting (Klapthor)** introduces students to figure sculpting, focusing on human, animal, and imaginary forms. The course emphasizes the details of anatomy, with early projects concentrating on faces and hands, and later projects developing full-figure sculptures that express narrative through poses and expressions. Individual artistic styles are encouraged, with all projects guided by the instructor. Note: Live models are not used.
**POT 19 - Intermediate Wheel (Hook)** is geared toward students with prior throwing experience, focusing on surface decoration techniques through experimentation with slips, engobes, carving, impressions, and sprig molds.
**POT 14 - Beginning Wheel (O'Leary)** serves as an entry-level class, teaching fundamental techniques of throwing, glazing, and firing while also covering safety guidelines. Students will work on small forms such as cups, bowls, and saucers.
For all classes, a tuition fee includes a $98 supply fee, covering one bag of clay, glazes, and firing space, while tools are not included and must be provided by students. Additional clay and tools can be purchased from the studio. All work must be produced within the Pottery Program studios at Callanwolde, with no outside work permitted.
