18th Street Casa de Cultura

18th Street Casa de Cultura is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and cultivating the legacy of cultural and artistic expression rooted in generational practices of the Mexicano-Latino community in Chicago. They focus on families, children, youth, and educators, utilizing ancestral cultural knowledge. Their activities include traditional music and art workshops, public art exhibitions, live music events, panel discussions, and indigenous ceremonies. They also offer early childhood Spanish immersion programs, afterschool programming, and professional development for educators. Their mission is to enhance community quality of life and healing through cultural practices and artistic expressions, restoring dignity to communities of color. They also engage in health and wellness programs, and barrio preservation efforts.
