Details:
Discover the versatility of colored pencil as a medium perfectly suited to rendering botanical subjects. This course begins with inspiration from artwork created by some of the world’s best colored pencil artists. We’ll explore the medium of professional-grade colored pencils, the characteristics of certain brands, the advantages of Faber-Castell polychromos pencils, and the interaction between medium and substrates. Build on the botanical illustration skills you have already gained as you learn how to use colored pencils to best effect: strokes, pressure, layering, blending, achieving vibrancy and shine, and finishing edges. A variety of small botanical subjects will be used to learn and practice techniques. Finally, you will advance your skills by designing and creating a botanically accurate and compelling composition in colored pencil.
Fees: Member $186, Non-Member $223
