Details:
The Cogitating Codgers of Chatt Hills (Codgers for short 😉)
Location: Chatt Hills Library at City Hall
Time: Meetings will be held every Friday from 2 PM till 3 PM.
However, the library is open from noon till 5 PM so you are encouraged to come early and leave late. Our first meeting will be held on Friday, February 6th.
Objectives: We're a book and topic club. Each month, we will select a book that inspires exploration of a related real-world topic(s). As an example, the fiction novel Sea Wolf, by Jack London, might be used as a spring board for discussion of seal hunting and its history, sailing ships, the animal rights movement, Jack London and his works, etc... Fiction and non-fiction books are equally welcome. Topic areas include, but are definitely not limited to, history, current events, futurism, religion, politics, art, STS (science, technology, and society), etc..
Some board gaming is also anticipated. If we see that the group has a keen interest in military history, for example, a military campaign game such as Panzer Blitz, Empires in Arms, A House Divided, Julius Caesar, or even Risk might be played for a month instead of a book.
