The Thomas Jefferson Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1923 to preserve and operate Monticello, the historic home of Thomas Jefferson. The Foundation's dual mission is preservation and education, aiming to conserve Monticello for future generations and interpret Jefferson's life and legacy for broad audiences. It engages nationally and globally through various programs, exhibits, and publications, including research on Jefferson and the history of slavery at Monticello. The organization also operates the Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies.
