Spectral Sisters Productions invites actors to audition for its upcoming staged reading of JaJa's African Hair Braiding on July 18 at 10:00 a.m., and July 20 and 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Rapides Foundation Building, 1101 Fourth St., Johnston St. entrance. Written by Jocelyn Bioh and directed by Alana Pate, this vibrant, Tony-nominated comedy-drama follows a group of West African stylists in a bustling Harlem hair salon, exploring themes of friendship, family, love, ambition, and secrets. The production calls for an ensemble cast of 11–17 actors, with characters aged 18 to 60, and is committed to expanding opportunities for local artists through diverse storytelling. Auditions will require actors to read provided sides from the script, and no memorized monologue is needed. Actors may attend any or all three audition sessions. The production is set for November 5-8, 2026, at the Kress Theater in Alexandria.
