Details:
Hubbell Trading Post is headed to Petrified Forest National Park on August 1 and 2.
From 9 AM to 4 PM each day at the Painted Desert Inn, visitors can experience the culture and heritage of the Navajo people while browsing and learning about the history and deep cultural significance of handcrafted Navajo rugs from the oldest continuously operating trading post in the American Southwest.
Authentic, handwoven Navajo rugs and fine sterling silver jewelry featuring turquoise and other precious gemstones will be available for purchase in a variety of designs and prices.
Join Diné (Navajo) Trader Wallace James Jr for daily rug talks at 10 AM and 2 PM both days. James Jr will describe the weaving process, history, symbolism, and artistry of the rugs as well as how to choose and care for them. Weaving demonstrations from Diné weaver Tonita Yazzie will take place throughout each day.
This free event takes place at the Painted Desert Inn. Take exit 311 off Interstate 40.
