Details:
This Pride Month, take some time to explore your creativity, heal, and relax!
Queer artist Thalo Blue (they/them) will lead participants through a Subconscious Art Exploration Workshop based on an art therapy practice called “Open Studio Practice" (OSP). OSP was originally developed by a group of art therapists in the 90's for therapy groups and art classes. Thalo’s “Subconscious Art Exploration” workshop draws from OSP while incorporating more meditative and discussion-focused elements. The goal of this practice is to help participants enter the flow state and practice unrestricted creativity in a calm, safe environment.
During Subconscious Art Exploration, participants will be guided through grounding exercises, intention-setting, free flow art-making with provided materials, a reflection writing exercise, and finally a sharing and debrief where participants will be led through a low-pressure discussion where everyone is empowered to share as much or as little as they would like. In this session, participants will explore the topics of queer identity, expression, and discovery.
Meet in the Catalina Room on the 2nd Floor of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library. 15 spots available, participation will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
This event is sponsored by the Pride Committee to celebrate Pride Month.
