The Battlefield Foundation works extensively to support the development and implementation of curriculum-based educational programming, living history activities, interactive exhibits, visitor facilities and Battlefield protection that engender an understanding of the War of 1812. Educational programming is conducted from five major perspectives including American Indian (Wyandot, Huron, Potawatomi, Ottawa, Ojibawa, Shawnee, Miami, and Seneca history); African-American (Free and Slave); French Settlers; United States (Frontier, Kentucky, and Early State); and British & Canadian Settlers. As visitors and students immerse in the history of the River Raisin from new perspectives the Battles national and international significance come alive in their hearts and minds. The Battlefield Foundation provides volunteer support and financial assistance for preservation, restoration, development, educational, and interpretive projects of River Raisin National Battlefield Park. River Raisin National Battlefield Park is the only National Battlefield Park dedicated to preserving and telling the story of the War of 1812 and the Battlefield is the only unit of the National Park System that is solely dedicated to preserving, restoring and educating visitors and students about the vast complexities and dynamics of the War of 1812 in the Northwest Territories. Please join us in supporting our endeavor to ensure historically and culturally significant Battlefield sites connect people to their heritage providing for a strong, prosperous and democratic nation.
