Details:
Join us for a unique experience at the 1817 Living History event at Territorial Park on the River Raisin, where you'll discover life as it was in 1817 at our working farm. Explore the historic 1789 Navarre House and view an operating 1810s kitchen while immersing yourself in the daily activities of the River Raisin Settlement. Throughout the season, enjoy daily demonstrations featuring pre-industrial farming, heirloom gardening, historic foodways including hearth cookery and earthen oven baking, and 1810s leisure activities for all ages.
This summer, we also invite you to a special celebration of American Independence, honoring 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Experience a day filled with the sights and sounds of history, including a special ceremony led by a Revolutionary War veteran. Engage in skill demonstrations such as earthen oven baking, shoemaking, open hearth cookery, needlework, and traditional games.
Bring your family and friends to be part of the vibrant past and enjoy this free event year-round, with accessible grounds for all Monroe County residents. Please remember that there is no overnight parking and dogs must be kept on a leash. Join us rain or shine as we relive the early history of Monroe County!
