Edison and Ford Winter Estates is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and interpreting the winter homes, laboratories, gardens, and legacies of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Its mission is to educate the public and inspire an inventive spirit by showcasing their innovations and contributions, with an emphasis on Florida history, science, horticulture, and the arts. The estates encompass 20 acres featuring historical gardens, 19 historic buildings, a museum, and the original 1927 Edison botanical research laboratory. The site offers various educational programs, tours, lectures, classes, and research opportunities for the general public, schools, and special groups, attracting approximately 250,000 visitors annually. Revenues are reinvested into preservation, conservation, and interpretation activities. The organization is recognized as a National Historic Landmark, a Florida Historic Landmark, and a National Chemical Landmark.
