SBDAC Creative Academy Jazz Ensemble Summer Camp Ages 10-18

Swing into summer.
SBDAC’s Jazz Ensemble Camp invites young musicians ages 10–18 into a week of collaboration, improvisation, rhythm, music theory, and live performance inside one of downtown Fort Myers’ most iconic creative spaces.
Designed for a wide range of developing musicians, this immersive camp explores the foundations of jazz, blues, ensemble playing, improvisation, timing, listening skills, musical structure, and group dynamics in a supportive and engaging educational environment. Students will strengthen technical ability while learning how individual musicians come together to create a cohesive ensemble sound.
Led by veteran music educator and professional trumpet player Leonardo “Leo” Bacigalupi alongside fellow educator and musician Kross Torregrossa, campers will work closely with instructors throughout the week to refine technique, build confidence, develop their own musical voice, and experience the excitement of making music together as a group. The week concludes with a live performance for friends and family.
With nearly two decades in education and experience performing with groups including Big Brass Machine, Chill Factor, The Blues Brothers Soul Band, and more, Leo brings both professional musicianship and dynamic mentorship into the rehearsal room.

Requirements: One year of ensemble experience, note reading experience, MJ BAND 1 completion, and conductor or teacher recommendation required.
Students should bring their own lunch & water bottle daily!
