Details:
Florida Repertory Theatre is honored to join WGCU Public Media in celebrating Juneteenth with a special community event on Saturday, June 20 at 10 AM in the Bunch Performance Hall.
Join us for a screening of WGCU’s powerful documentary exploring the history of the Black vote in Southwest Florida, featuring the remarkable story of the late Veronica Shoemaker, the first Black City Councilwoman elected to the Fort Myers City Commission.
Following the film, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a special Q&A discussion reflecting on the documentary’s themes, local history, and the ongoing importance of civic engagement.
Last year’s event drew an incredible crowd, and this year’s attendance is already on track to be even larger. We hope you’ll join us as we commemorate Juneteenth, honor the voices and leaders who helped shape our community, and celebrate a vital chapter of Southwest Florida’s history.
This event is free and open to the public — though we ask that you register at the ticket link below!
