Modern Floriography: Floral Demonstration and presentation with Teresa Sabankaya

Join us for a Garden-Inspired presentation and floral demonstration with local author Teresa Sabankaya. Teresa will demonstrate how to make two stunning garden bouquets known as posies. By using flowers and other materials that are sourced from a garden, you can feel inspired and confident that you too can create these works of art. Posies are the one of the most thoughtful, well-received gifts you can give, because they are similar to greeting cards, but with so much more personable messages, and, they are beautiful, fragrant flowers. Beautiful sentiment tags, ribbons and containers are discussed and combined with actual visual examples. While passing around the posies for observation, we’ll discuss how the language of flowers can be incorporated into our lives today. She will have copies available for sale of her newest book Modern Floriography after the program. Teresa Sabankaya is a gardener, floral designer and author of The Posy Book (2019) , and Modern Floriography (2026) . Teresa is the owner and principal designer of her eponymous in-garden studio in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California. She has been providing professional floral design services for elegant lifestyles in the Monterey and San Francisco Bay Area for over thirty-five years, designing florals for daily enjoyment, weddings, and other milestones. She is most notably known for the creation of her modern-day posies, which are garden bouquets that tell a story in the language of flowers.
