Our team is pleased to offer Open Hours this summer in the Childrens Makerspace. Each week, the Childrens Makerspace will host a different theme for patrons to explore no registration required, just stop by! Tuesday through Friday 10am to 5pm Saturday, ALL DAY June 2-6 Mixed Media Art Collage Construction Using mixed media, kids will have the opportunity to create their own sculptural works of art. Decoupage, cardboard, recycled bottles, paint, wire, and more will be used in this art and design challenge! June 9-13 Summer STEM Challenges Using what they know about science and engineering, kids will design and build amusement park rides using limited materials such as paper, pipe cleaners, and disposable cups. June 16-20 Indi Robot Exploration Code our Indi Robot cars with colored tiles. Solve puzzles and mazes and create your own tracks for Indi to drive! June 23-27 Towers and Tall Structures In this engineering challenge, kids will use various materials to build the tallest tower they can. Considering the properties of various materials, children will modify their designs to be both strong and tall. June 30 - July 2 Recycled inventions Celebrate the arrival of historic Hagley Museum patents in the Art Gallery with a week of creative invention! On your way to the Childrens Makerspace, stop by the art gallery to explore real patents from groundbreaking inventors and discover how ideas become reality. Inspired by these innovators, kids will use a variety of recycled materials to design and build their very own inventions. Whether practical or delightfully silly, young makers will step into the shoes of inventors, brainstorming ideas, experimenting with materials, troubleshooting challenges, and bringing their creations to life. Come celebrate invention, creativity, and the journey from imagination to innovation! Please note: Children under eleven must be under the direct supervision of a responsible caregiver (at least 16 years of age) at all times while on Library premises, pursuant to the Librarys Policy on Unattended Children.
