PAWS for Reading

Want to read to a PAWS certified furry friend? Reserve your own special one-on-one 15 minute session to read to our certified volunteer animal! NOTE: Basic reading skills are required for the child to read to the animal. The PAWS for Reading program builds confidence in reading by using a stress-free environment while reading to a trained therapy animal. Children can bring a book from home or choose one from the library. When choosing a book from the library, please arrive early enough to be ready to read at your reserved time. Parents/guardians can remain in the room but cannot sit with the child during the reading time. It is too distracting for our PAWS animaland child. The sessions should be one-on-one between the reader and the PAWS team. This is a Civic Literacy Program.
