Members-Only Virtual Tour: Explore the Guggenheim’s Iconic Architecture

Join us for a members-only virtual tour of the Guggenheim New York’s iconic building, led by a staff educator. This guided experience explores how the museum’s architecture reflects its history and mission, from its founding in 1939 as the Museum of Non-Objective Painting to the 1943 commission of Frank Lloyd Wright to design a permanent home for the collection. During the tour, members will learn how Wright’s radical vision took shape, culminating in the building’s 1959 opening, just months after his death, and how it was immediately recognized as an architectural icon. Now part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the museum’s distinctive design—with its spiral ramp rising to a domed skylight—continues to inspire visitors and provide a unique forum for the presentation of contemporary art.
