Freedom and Unity: Keeping the Promise of Democracy in Vermont

Marshfield Historical Society's commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with author and illustrator Dan Nott whose immensely popular book, Freedom and Unity: A Graphic Guide to Civics and Democracy in Vermont, simply and powerfully illustrates the unique ways in which Vermonters breathe life into the State Motto. We practice democracy not only at election times, but in our everyday lives in our communities. Local leaders will share their own stories of why they undertake responsibilities in the community.
