The First 5 Family Center holistically supports families who are pregnant or parenting young children. Each Family Center offers playgroups, parenting classes, support groups, school readiness activities, and assistance with community resources. They can also provide child safety supplies and diapers for enrolled families. All programs and services are free to interested families with young children. The First 5 Butte County Children and Families Commission works collaboratively with partners and community members to build a healthy, integrated system of support for young children and their families and caregivers, with a vision that every child in Butte County will have the opportunity for a resilient, thriving future. The Family Centers are part of a larger network that provides resources and referrals for basic needs, healthcare, mental health, early intervention services, childcare, preschool, and immigration services. They aim to strengthen families and prevent child maltreatment by offering a franchise model of Family Resource Centers.
