On Friday, June 12, at 10 a.m., two doctoral dissertation defenses will take place simultaneously. Jianchen Wei will defend his Ph.D. dissertation titled “Image Restoration Regularized by Structured Sparsity Promoting Functions: Theory, Algorithms, and Applications” in Carnegie building, room 122. His advisor is Professor Lixin Shen, and his committee includes Professors Shukai Du, Justin Ko, and Adam Lutoborski, with Professor Qinru Qiu serving as chair. Concurrently, Layla Dehaiman will defend her Ph.D. dissertation titled “Restorative Practices in Education: Practitioner Perceptions of School Discipline Practices and the Implementation of a Restorative Paradigm” in Huntington Hall, room 220. Dehaiman’s advisor is Professor Beth Ferri, and her committee comprises Professors Christine Ashby and Beth Myers, with Professor George Theoharis as chair.
