Details:
Join Friends of Princeton Open Space (FOPOS) for a Land Stewardship Volunteer Day at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve in Princeton, NJ, on Saturday, July 25th. This community volunteer event offers two sessions: morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and afternoon from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will collaborate with the stewardship team on vital projects like invasive species removal, native planting, and installing protective cages around native plants. The day will start with a brief presentation about the tasks ahead, followed by hands-on work to restore degraded habitats. This is a great opportunity to learn stewardship skills that can be applied to your own backyard. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, so bring a friend or come as a group! Meetup will be at the Mountain Lakes House parking lot at 57 Mountain Avenue, with directions provided for access. Please complete an event waiver prior to participation. Since its inception in 1969, FOPOS has relied on volunteers to aid in preserving the natural spaces around Princeton. If you can't attend, consider making a donation to support local stewardship efforts. Register for one or both sessions today!
