Details:
Join FOPOS’s stewardship team on Thursday, July 23rd, for an engaging Evening Moth Survey at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve. This citizen science event invites participants aged 12 and up to explore the fascinating world of moths, essential for ecosystem health as pollinators and prey for various wildlife. The evening will begin with an educational presentation by Patrick Natale, Assistant Professor of Biology at Mercer County Community College, followed by a hands-on activity where attendees will help identify and log moth species to contribute to a biodiversity database. FOPOS will set up a 'light trap' along a woodland border for moth observation, allowing participants to gather data and take photographs. RSVP to receive additional information, including a link to a free collaborative App for the event. Meet at the Mountain Lakes House, located at 57 Mountain Ave, Princeton NJ, 08540—be sure to drive down the long paved driveway marked by black mailboxes to find the gravel parking lot. Don’t miss this opportunity to delve into the mysterious lives of moths!
