Class Description:
NOTE: This class meets for 3 hours, from 9 AM-12 PM.
Participants will learn about the symptoms and maladaptive behaviors related to trauma including noncompliance and meltdowns. Often times, foster parents find out their children continue to engage in maladaptive behaviors and come up empty-handed when they try to use various punishment-based strategies. This class will discuss some of the problems associated with using punishment-based strategies for traumatized children, and outline specific strategies to be used that focus on positive behavioral supports. Participants will gain new ideas for positive behavioral programming which may help your child learn new skills and decrease maladaptive behaviors.
